The hike takes you along the Möhne to the Kanzelbrücke. From the Kanzelbrücke you have a wonderful view of the beginning of the Möhnesee: the Wamel basin. This quiet and natural part of the Möhnesee is a breeding and resting place for numerous water birds. From there, you follow the A 8 hiking trail through spruce and Buchenwald forests, past clearings and streams. You circle the Wurzelberg and reach the Völlinghausen Wildlife Park towards the end of the hike.
The route is particularly recommended from October onwards, as this is the time when sika deer start to rut. With a bit of luck, you can observe the sika deer up close at this time of year and listen to the exciting acoustic experience.
