Körbecke
The Haarstrang is one of the sharpest landscape borders in Central Europe. The natural surroundings are correspondingly diverse. At the start of the circular tour, we are accompanied by views of the Möhnesee and the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park. A detour (600 meters away) is worthwhile to visit the Drüggelte Chapel. And if you need to cool off, take a short detour and use the public bathing area with sunbathing lawn in Delecke (1 km away) before the ride climbs steeply uphill towards Haarstrang.
The Bismarck Tower near Delecke (junction B229/B516), which was originally intended as a monument in honor of the first German Chancellor Prince Otto von Bismarck, has also been used as an observation tower since 1987 (note opening times).
After crossing the B516, the view sweeps far into the Soest Börde, which is used for agriculture and wind power generation. Now we cycle north of the Haarstrang and pass several villages in the municipality of Möhnesee. A detour to the Kleiberg pasture landscape (700 meters), with its semi-wild horses and cattle on the site of a former military training area, is also worthwhile.
You then return via the Haarstrang on the Pengel-Anton-Route route, a former railroad line that ran from Soest to Brilon. With another view of the Möhnesee, we return to Körbecke.
In the villages along the route, various restaurateurs look forward to your visit.
The Haarstrang tour can be combined with three other routes on Lake Möhnesee - the "Dam Wall Tour", the "Great Lake Möhnesee Tour" and the "Kanzelbrücke Tour". The tours can be started anywhere, the routes are signposted and can be ridden in both directions.
The best place to start - and finish - the tour is Körbecke, the main town in the municipality of Möhnesee (parking lot at the Haus des Gastes). From here, we head west along the Daiwesweg, past the cemetery, always halfway up the hill. Shortly before Westrich, the route climbs steeply towards Haarstrang. Rewarded with sweeping views, we cross the main road (be careful here) and cycle downhill to Theiningsen. Cycling north, we reach the Wierlauker Weg and pass the Millennium Mamma waymark. Again and again we can enjoy "art along the way", waymarks created by local artists, scattered in the beautiful landscape. As we continue, we then pass the districts of Wippringsen, Büecke, Berlingsen and Bergede, from where we return to the south side of the Haarstranges via the former "Pengel Anton" railroad line via Echtrop to Stockum. From there, the tour continues at roughly the same altitude back to Körbecke and again offers a wonderful view of the Westfalen sea, the Möhnesee.junctions: 66 - 98 - 95 - at Bergede direction 69 - 66
