There are numerous parking spaces on site which provide an ideal starting point for hikes towards the dam wall or the Himmelpforten monument.

The dam wall of the Möhne dam can be reached on foot from here and the walk along the balancing pond of the lake offers impressive views of the heavy structure. Various circular hiking trails start here.

Der Möhnesee liegt am Rande des Arnsberger Waldes zwischen der westfälischen Bucht, dem Haarstrang und dem Sauerland und somit am Hauptzugweg vieler Wasservögel.

On this circular route, you hike on asphalt paths, gravel and forest trails through the expanses of the Arnsberg Forest, along meadows and fields and past the village of Brüningsen.

This route also has a lot to offer. You hike on forest paths and asphalt paths through woodland and fields from where you have a beautiful view of the lower Möhnetal, the Haar and Günne.
